Apple ID Frequently Asked Questions
Many friends encounter various issues when using Apple IDs. Today, to make things easier for everyone, Xiaohao Duo Platform has specially compiled some common issues encountered when using overseas Apple IDs. We hope this helps you resolve your problems smoothly!
1. When logging in, the ID prompts “Two-Factor Authentication” requires binding a phone number?
Explanation: Starting September 2022, Apple IDs can bind a phone number unconditionally. That is, as long as you log in with your ID and password, you will be prompted to bind a phone number.
Solution: If you need to bind a phone number, click Continue and bind your own phone number. Binding is recommended as it helps prevent risk control. If you do not need to bind a phone number, click --- Other Options --- Do Not Upgrade to skip the verification!
2. How to log in to the App Store with an overseas ID?
Explanation: Note! The IDs for the App Store and Settings can be used independently. Therefore, when using an overseas ID to download apps, please log in on the App Store, not in Settings (overseas IDs carry uncertainty and risk).
Solution: Open the App Store, tap the profile icon in the top right corner, scroll to the bottom (make sure to scroll all the way to the bottom to see the Sign Out button), sign out of your own ID, log in with the purchased ID, and search for the app you need to download!
3. After logging in with an overseas ID on the App Store, overseas apps cannot be found and the interface is still in Chinese?
Explanation: Special note ⚠️ Often when switching IDs, especially when logging out of a domestic ID and switching to an overseas ID, the device may have cached data. Even though the overseas ID is logged in, the interface remains in Chinese and hasn't refreshed. As a result, some overseas apps cannot be found when searching! The overseas ID functions are not available!
Solution: Clear the App Store from the background or restart the device, then re-enter the App Store and it will refresh. The interface will change to the language version corresponding to the ID's region, and the ID will then function properly, allowing you to download the corresponding apps!
4. How to modify Apple ID password/security questions and other information?
Explanation: Modifying the ID password and security questions is a necessary step for better security and reliability, and it also helps prevent account theft!
Solution: Modifying account passwords and other information must be done through Apple's web portal. Visit Apple's official website at https://appleid.apple.com, log in with the purchased account (to reiterate, log in with the account you purchased to change the information, and try to change as much as possible. However, do not make changes in bulk — you can change the password today and the security questions tomorrow). For specific modification methods, please refer to https://www.xiaohaoduo.com/article/6
5. When modifying information on the official website, a prompt appears: “Stolen Device Protection” is enabled, and some account information cannot be updated on the web.
Explanation: When you log in with the ID on your phone, your phone's default settings have “Stolen Device Protection” enabled, which blocks potentially unsafe changes.
Solution: Search for “Stolen Device Protection” in your phone's Settings, turn off this feature, and then go to the official website to modify your account information.
6. When logging in, a prompt appears saying “Unable to Sign In” or “Could not sign in,” or it keeps loading?
Explanation: Domestic networks have unstable connections to Apple's overseas servers, causing login attempts to fail when connecting to Apple's overseas servers (similar to how domestic networks are slow or unable to open foreign websites). Additionally, iOS devices that have just been flashed and do not have a SIM card inserted are more prone to this error. Do not suspect the account itself. You can try logging in on Apple's official webpage — if that works, the account is perfectly fine.
Solution: If you are a user without a SIM card, inserting a SIM card can quickly resolve this issue! 1. Try toggling Airplane Mode on and off once before logging in (note: toggle it on and off, not just turn it on). 2. If you have a proxy/VPN enabled, turn it off and switch networks to retry. 3. Clear the App Store cache in the background, restart the device, and use your own network. 4. Switch networks — for example, from Wi-Fi to cellular data, or connect to someone else's mobile hotspot. Try these methods one by one until the login succeeds!
7. After logging in with the ID, updating apps shows “Your account has been disabled in the App Store and iTunes” or “Your account has been disabled in Appstore and iTunes”?
Explanation: Updating apps on the Apple system requires that the same ID used for downloading is also used for updating.
Solution: 1. Log in with the original ID to update. 2. Delete the old app and re-download it using the purchased ID! (If it is a paid app, please ensure the new account can download this paid app.)
8. When logging in with the ID, a prompt appears saying the username or password is incorrect?
Explanation: IDs that have not enabled iCloud settings cannot be logged into in Settings. Logging in there will prompt a password error. Unless necessary, only use the purchased ID on the App Store. If you really need to log in via Settings, please turn off “Find My Phone” to prevent the device from being locked. All IDs sold in this store are exclusive IDs — one account per person. If an ID purchased earlier prompts a password error, check whether the ID information was not changed and the account was stolen. Please self-check. Once again, for exclusive IDs, be sure to modify the ID information.
Solution: If you log in on the App Store and get a username or password error, it means you entered it incorrectly. Double-check carefully. Copy and paste the ID and password one by one to log in — typos are common, and make sure there are no extra spaces!
9. It shows that this ID is invalid or not supported?
Solution: 1. This message indicates the ID is invalid — either the ID was entered incorrectly and is not a valid ID. 2. Or the email associated with the ID has been changed, making the old ID email invalid.
10. An exclusive ID has already purchased a certain paid app, but after logging in, the app still shows a price and requires payment?
Solution: If you purchased an exclusive ID for a paid app, such as an exclusive ID for Shadowrocket, and the app still shows a price after logging in, simply click the price to download. This is due to cached data on the device — the display hasn't updated. In reality, the app has already been purchased. Clicking the price will allow you to download it directly without any additional payment. If clicking the price to download prompts you to enter US payment information, please contact customer service for assistance!
11. Prompt indicating the ID is not activated or has been disabled?
Explanation: The situation where an ID is not activated or has been disabled often occurs due to prolonged periods without logging in, switching between multiple devices, sharing with others, or system risk control. All interpretation rights for Apple IDs belong to Apple Inc. So if this issue arises, don't ask questions like “Isn't this a permanent ID?” Also, don't worry — as long as the ID has not been used for violations (frequent ID sharing, black card recharges, etc., are all violations — customer service will explain the specifics), contacting Apple support will have the restriction reviewed and lifted within 24 hours.
Solution: If the ID is not activated or has been disabled, you can visit Apple's official website at https://appleid.apple.com to contact online support, or call Apple's customer service hotline: 400 666 8800 to have it lifted (for other issues you cannot resolve on your own with the ID, you can also contact Apple support)!
